Thailand’s CCSA and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration will meet on Monday to determine (again) if Bangkokians can splash water throughout Songkran. This news comes after officials announced last week that Songkran might be dry, for both alcohol and water splashing, for the third 12 months in a row. That week, Thai officials said solely conventional Songkran actions could be allowed.
This included going to temples, praying, and pouring water on Buddhist statues as nicely as pouring water on each other and on the arms of aged individuals as a blessing. The CCSA, however, encouraged pageant observers to apply conventional actions without water, such as bowing to elders at a distance of a minimal of 1 metre, as an alternative of pouring water on their arms as a sign of respect and blessing.
Business owners in Khao San Road and Silom Road were not thrilled at this information. Representatives of the Khaosan Road Business Association and avenue business operators filed a petition to the CCSA. The petition urged authorities to chill out their Covid-19 restrictions throughout Songkran.
ผลไม้อบแห้ง called on authorities to allow water splashing around walking street areas and leisure districts. The Pattaya News famous that if the BMA provides permission with guidelines and tips, Pattaya, Phuket, and Chiang Mai may doubtless request the same variation to guidelines

The BMA and CCSA will announce their determination after the assembly on Monday..
