Emerson introduces silencer to guard staff

Emerson has launched the Fisher WhisperTube Modal Attenuator for noisy gas or vapour purposes, which provides noise reduction in compressible fluid service for improved employee security, with no impact on course of flow.

The modal attenuator from Emerson is a full-bore device offering 15-decibel sound suppression to reduce noise inside pipes produced by sources upstream, similar to control valves or different devices. It is installed downstream of these units in place of a pipe spool piece, it generates no further pressure drop, and has no impression on process circulate.
Until now, all solutions have generated important stress drop, reduced move, and/or introduced obstructions. This has led some customers to install acoustic insulation to pipe sections to reduce back noise, however this may be costly and cumbersome to install, and it does nothing to reduce internal piping noise. WhisperTube devices are supplied in sizes from 2–12 in, with American Society of Mechanical Engineer (ASME) flange scores of Class a hundred and fifty, 300 and 600. Pressure scores match the flange rating sizes, and the utmost temperature is 700°F (371° C).
